6/7 Seminar Information
April 9, 2008 by susangpyp
This is in response to JSHBB’s question about the June seminar. JSHBB, I also sent you a private email.
June 7th seminar:
1. It’s held at the New York City Seminar and Conference Center barring any unforeseen circumstances. This is in the Chelsea section of Manhattan and very central to everything. You can get there by subway, bus, car. There is parking nearby.
2. It’s from 10-4:30/5:00 (if I can get the room til 5 we’ll take it) and includes 2 hours of interactive grief work. We will do introductions, overview of GPYP, discussion, lunch and then grief and wrap up in the afternoon. Don’t worry, you will be zipped back up before you leave for the day.
Registration fee includes material and lunch. Last time we had pizza or box lunch. I only had a piece of pizza which was okay. :) I usually order an afternoon snack or breakfast for the 6 hour. After registration closes I will poll people and ask what you prefer. There is a break room there that has coffee and water and some snacks. Nothing spectacular but it’s there, and a deli 2 doors down if nothing strikes your fancy.
3. We usually do a dinner which is optional. If you are traveling with someone who is not attending, they are more than welcome for dinner. Dinner is usually a lot of fun.
4. People can and do hang out after dinner. People can and do travel together from out of town even if they’ve never met. After registration closes I check in with people about travel plans and see if I can help anyone out who is coming to the city alone or whatever. So don’t worry if you are traveling to NY alone. We’ll take care of you.
5. I have a list of hotels on the pages above. If you need any travel information, please let me know.
6. Every seminar is different which is why I give alums 50 percent off future offerings. If you’ve been to one, feel free to come again. Many do.
7. You will meet an incredible group of people. The people who come are very engaged in their own healing and have enormous amounts of support to give and receive. I am always blown away by the wonderful people who come.
8. Feel free to email me privately about any questions you have that you don’t want to put in a comment.
9. The seminars always sell out and I always have people on a waiting list.
I try to keep it to 25 to make the group feel safe and everyone has time to share. In March we had 28 with 2 no-shows because of weather. I shut it down a bit late because I had a flurry of registrations in one day but it sold out weeks before the registration closed. I had 10 people on a waiting list, so register early (please. I hate to turn people away). I have not counted up the registrations yet but I’m pretty sure it’s more than 3/4 full.
10. Feel free to email me anything or ask in a comment. Feel free to ask people here who have attended, I’m sure they will help you out.
Hope to see you there!!!!

Here is some raw video from the last seminar. It’s not that great and not that long but gives you a little idea of it:

I am SO disappointed that I won’t be able to attend this time. I have a family wedding to attend that day. I can’t wait until you schedule another one … it was a great experience. I had dinner last night with someone that I met at the March seminar. It’s been great having someone from the group to connect with in person.
Kathy: I’m so happy to hear that. I’m sure you guys had a great time. We will miss you! I’ll be having another one in the fall. Hope you can come then!
Whaaaaa! I can’t go - I’ll be on vacation with my sister in Nashville for the country music festival. Really wish I could make it! The March seminar was so wonderful and dinner was a blast - I would highly recommend anyone going that’s interested. It was really the best thing I’ve done for myself in a long time. I was nervous about going at first, but everyone there was SO welcoming and friendly. I felt we’d all known each other forever, rather than just a few hours! Hopefully I can make it to the next one - I’d be really interested in doing the interactive grief work!
Anyway, hopefully I will be busy meeting cute cowboys to be TOO disappointed ;-p
Hi Susan,
I just registered and I feel so great that I did. Thank you once again for being so accommodating! I did not even see this post until I logged back on. Today’s a good day. I have not had one in such a long time.
Lucy,
I have that nervous feeling too. Reading your post eases that, though I must say that Susan and everyone here have been so “welcoming and friendly” even before I decided to attend. I love country music (something my ex always hated). Hope you have a good time with your sister and if you do meet one of those cute cowboys, hope he’s really nice and friendly too.
I counted the registrations and I have 17 with 3 people who told me they want to come and will be registering soon so that’s 20 so it is more than 2/3 full.
Hi Lucy. See you at the next one!!! Have a great time in Nashville. The interactive grief work sounds good to me too.
